  • Visiting the dangerous “Narrow Gate Rock” at Dragon’s Gate Cave

The Dragon’s Gate is truly a precious place; there’s a breathtaking rock perched on the cliff, a pine tree that grows out of a rock, and the exquisite scenery of the deep valley of Daedun Mountain.

The Dragon’s Gate also boasts of many special rocks. Some look like human sculptures, some are as tall as towers, some take the form of a person in prayer, some have images of figures embracing each other and yet others are in the shape of animals.

    The Knife Rock

There is a particular rock by the Dragon’s Gate cave which looks like it has been split into half by a big knife. Because of that, the space in the middle of the rock formed a narrow path – so narrow that someone with a big build simply cannot pass through. This path was right next to the spot where I frequently prayed during my ascetic life of prayer.

When I started leading a church, I brought some members to see Dragon’s Gate. A curious male Deacon wanted to visit the place where I prayed, but his big build made it impossible to pass through. However, he exclaimed: “Teacher, even though I am big in size, I am really good at climbing mountains!”

I asked him: “You are heavier than me by at least 10 kg, are you sure that you are able to pass through?”

He answered: “I can definitely pass through it effortlessly! In the past, I’ve frequently climbed steep mountains where I could have easily fallen to my death. Let me first have a try at the entrance. If I really cannot pass through, I’ll just look from there instead of going further.”

I cautioned him: “There is no one to help you when you are travelling on that path. You have to rely on your own skills and abilities to pass through.”

The male Deacon then entered the entrance of the narrow path. I asked: “Can you go in?” His worried wife pleaded with him: “My dear, listen to the Teacher! Please don’t go in.” The male Deacon answered: “Don’t scare me!”

After which, he stepped onto the difficult path, pressing his back onto the inner rocks, and walked a few steps, moving even slower than a tortoise. It was so difficult that he could only inch forward a tiny step at a time. Also, he had to stick his back and both hands against the rock to move forward.

Then, he stopped and said to me: “It is so difficult to get through!”

I replied: “If you are not confident, come back out!” He replied: “Even though it is very difficult to go forward, but I will try!”

I said: “Right now, I can only pray for you. Please call out to the Lord to grab hold of you tightly!” The male Deacon then called out to the Lord while he was moving forward and he succeeded in the end!

I went on the path to take a look at the place behind the rock where he was. He was breaking out in cold sweat and was so nervous that he froze up.

His wife said to him: “Since I am smaller in size than you, I can definitely pass through as well!”

What I realized from this incident

On that day, we all went through the path in between “the rock that was sliced apart with a knife” – the Narrow Gate Rock, which is symbolic of the narrow gate mentioned in

    Matthew 7: 13-14

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

In our life too, we encounter situations like the narrow path – challenges abound and are difficult to overcome. We can now live up to a hundred years, but people might die 30, 50, or even 70 years earlier than expected due to a single accident – isn’t that scary? While praying in the mountains, I called out to the Lord countless of times to protect my life in the midst of danger.

That was how I was able to survive the harsh weather over long periods of time during my ascetic life of prayer. In the face of danger, we can avoid death if we call out to the Lord earnestly. When we call out to the Lord, then He can lead us through the narrow gate of life.

  • Learn Absolutely from the Lord

Teachers have existed throughout human history to educate others on a plethora of things ranging from academics and skills to even faith and religion. However, what defines a true teacher? A true mentor should not only teach people about life but also lead by example. We are often faced with different choices in life and due to the lack of discernment, people may fall into destruction. A student without a true teacher lacks the wisdom and skill to live his or her life well. Therefore, it is important to find the True Teacher that can lead you to the path of life, the path of success.

Learn from a True Teacher, learn from the Lord.

    Proverbs 3:6

In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

There are some people who claim that they live their lives putting the Lord as their head, but in reality, they failed to entrust to the Lord. Just like the scripture <Matthew 7:18> A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit, a teacher who is unable to live a life of faith well cannot expect their followers to lead a life centring on the Lord themselves. A bad teacher will only result in both themselves and their followers being unable to take action correctly with Heaven’s mentality and fulfil the Lord’s will for them. Thus, it is important to learn from the best teacher, who is the Lord himself.

Who is <the head>? It is ‘the Lord.’

Who is <the body>? It is ‘the followers.’

God created this world and human beings in order to fulfill His plan and purpose. He sent the Messiah and taught human beings about the purpose so that they will live fulfilling it. Even when it comes to doing the work and missions of God, only the Lord who is the head knows clearly. Therefore, when the Lord speaks, the followers must take action according to that Word, that is why we have to learn from the Lord! People who live thinking that the Lord’s body is next to them are blessed people. If you live

thinking that the Lord’s body is next to you,  you will not speak or act recklessly and you will empty away your own perspectives and take action according to the Lord’s Word. Always live thinking that God, the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Son Lord are ‘next to you’ in reality of your life. Because, both God and the Holy Spirit take action through your body. Therefore, both God and the Holy Spirit are ‘next to you’ in your life. Everyone, realize this truth and live putting it into practice!

  • Becoming the Lord’s Body

I’ve had a few close shaves with death. One such time was when I was overwhelmed with depressing thoughts, when I felt utterly useless and inadequate. But, in that moment, I was saved by Jesus.

It started with a rich businessman. I met an important businessman who was ill, and he lamented that his riches were useless because he had a sickly body. This struck me, and so I offered to pray for his health. After sincerely praying, he started feeling better and showing signs of recovery.

Thankful for my prayers, he offered a gift in return. However, I simply told him that it would be good if he could believe in God and start going to church diligently, to which he promised. Upon his insistence to give me a gift, I told the church near my house needed a new bell, since the old bell had been spoilt for awhile and so, the villagers now lacked something that could remind them to work and rest. Immediately, he agreed and gave me some money. I then used the money to head to the nearest city that sells church bells.

    I almost killed myself

On the journey, I bumped into a group of students. Looking at them, I felt the fire of evangelism in me light up. I thought to myself:

how should I approach them? Should I start with, “how are you? Do you go to church?” No – this way of starting the conversation is so old-fashioned; they’ll definitely ignore me.

Or maybe: “Hello! The weather is really nice, right? I guess you all are going somewhere for a holiday?” No, that sounds odd, too. Or I could ask them, “Hi, have you all read the bible? Do you have any questions? I have read it many times, and have lots of comments!” But asking this way is too unexpected too.

The desire to evangelise them burst out from my chest as I ran through the scenarios in my head. However, I couldn’t gather the courage because I was too shy and my mouth was not able to finish what I wanted to say. Every time I finally mustered the courage to walk over to the students, my mind went blank and I would dejectedly walk back. The students looked at me, walking towards them then walking backwards. Two steps forward, one step back. Feeling utterly disappointed in myself, I kept rebuking myself. I was angry that I couldn’t do God’s work, even after He serendipitously put an evangelism candidate before me. You can’t even say a single word, and yet you want to evangelise and become an announcer? Believing myself useless, I was frustrated that I’d continuously disappointed Jesus and worried my parents.

I got more and more agitated and more upset. In a moment of anger, I left my seat and ran out of the train carriage door. In that moment, I truly felt like dying. Jump down and die – that’s the best solution. Images of my failure to talk to the students flashed in my mind. I closed my eyes and was prepared to jump down.

    Jesus saved me

Suddenly, something grabbed my neck, I was so shocked that the thought of jumping off the train was banished immediately. “Who was it who grabbed me? Is it the train driver? I did not see him just now?” I thought. I looked around but strangely, there was not a single person.

“It must be my reaction from wanting to escape from death. I’m despicable. I am really unbelievable. I do not even have the determination to die!”

When I was shaking my head at myself, I heard a voice that is about to cry saying: “I have already died for you. Why then, do you want to die?”

Immediately I recognized it as Jesus’s voice. Jesus said it in a very sad tone and that frightened me. I told Jesus that I felt useless because I didn’t even have the courage to talk to people, I was unable to help the Lord to spread the gospel. I cried tears while confessing my stupidity. Jesus replied saying:

“A child would not be able to hold a very big object, right? Why are you discouraged and chose death because of this? Do you know how precious life is? Do you know how sad I am without a body?”

I replied, “But, everything I do, I don’t do well.”

“You will do well after you’re grown up. Let’s start by evangelizing one by one. Live with me and become my body.”

Since that incident, Jesus’ words became engraved in my mind. I evangelised one at a time, thinking that Jesus is working through my body. One step at a time, I spread the word to the whole nation, and now to the world. I’ve since become more confident in preaching the word to crowds.

Although I’m no longer young, I’m still driven by the fiery heart to live for the Lord. I confessed to Jesus every day saying: “Lord, don’t worry about me, I am living for the Lord, and living to fulfill the will of the Lord. Thus, no matter what hardship I faced, it is ok. I am a happy man!

We’ve all been there; there are days where you feel like giving up on yourself because you feel that you’re lacking. Listen to my story – even though it’s hard now, know that if you entrust it to the Lord, you will overcome this difficulty and do big things and become a happy person!

  • Building Seokmak Church – Part 02

    Part 02

In the 1970s, I needed to support my family.  I needed to buy clothes for my mother.  One of the things that I had made up my mind to do when I went back to Vietnam was to buy clothes for her.  Even though I knew that my dad would scold me for doing it, I was determined to get her an outfit. But, if I gave even a bit of the money away, I wouldn’t be able to buy anything for her.  If I gave everyone a little bit of money, then I would only be able to give half of what I had to church.  My older brothers and my younger siblings had all prayed for me, so I wanted to give them all a small sum too.  However, I just went ahead and bundled up all of the money and took it to church.  The bundle of money was so big that it wouldn’t go into the offering bag.  I thought about what to do and I went and sat on the podium.  I built the Seokmak church with that money.

I was rebuked by my brothers.

“How could you do that?  Even if it was just a little bit, you should have left a little bit of money for your family when you gave your offering.”

A commotion broke out, and so, my family went to the church and spoke to the deacon about it.

“He put all of that money in the offering but he didn’t talk to anyone at home about it, so he shouldn’t have done that.”

But I had already spoken to the deacon and warned him that,
“If they take any of the money, the responsibility will be on your shoulders.”
So I had already brainwashed him thoroughly.
“They won’t take all of the money from you, but don’t even let them take ten won.  If anything happens, it’s all your fault.”
    I can remember saying that.

When I went home after I had put the money in the offering, a feeling of being thankful that God had saved my life, which was so precious that I couldn’t trade it for the whole world, sprang up inside of me. The money that I had given seemed like less than ten cents. It didn’t even seem like one cent. When I thought about how God had kept me alive, it didn’t even seem like one cent.

“God, if you want the tape recorder I’ll give it to you.  It’s all yours; I’ll just keep it safe for you,” I said and I thanked God.

After I had sacrificed my television and given it to God, I wanted to watch the news.  Back then nobody in the valley had a television.  There was just one house in Jinsan that had a television but it was not as new or expensive as mine was.  That’s how few televisions there were.  However, after I had given my TV to God, I felt no sense of regret.

Then I was reading the Bible, I was reading Proverbs and I kept on seeing a vision.  It looked like I was watching the TV but I was watching what was happening around the world.  In Proverbs 17:4-5 it says:

    4 A wicked man listens to evil lips;
a liar pays attention to a malicious tongue.
    5 He who mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker;
whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished.

It seemed like this (these verses) was one book.  “3,000 proverbs are like 3,000 books.”  So it looked like there were 3,000 books tightly packed on to the one bookshelf.  “If you read Proverbs, it’s like reading 3,000 books. “

Even if you read one book, it would be hard to find even one proverb in it.  I was reading Proverbs a lot and I realized deeply how precious they were.  I gave up my TV for God; He showed me spiritual TV.  If I just think about something, I can see it.  I realized that this was something that had come from God.  He has never taken it away from me.  If it was just a TV, like the TVs in the world, it would have broken already.  No matter how good a TV was, some part of it definitely would have broken.  Since I gave everything to God, God gave me things that were much better.

Then I sold the tape recorder and used the money that I got from it to make the charts.  I sold the TV and used the money to build Seokmak church.  If you’re talking about 100,000 won back then, it would have been enough to buy thirty-three thousand square meters of land in Seoul. But I used that money to build Seokmak Church, so can you imagine just how much money went into it?  Now the time has passed and we have electricity and there is no one who doesn’t have a TV.

I gave my television to God long ago and built a church, so that people could be saved and so that I could make charts.  The most important thing is that I was given the TV of the spiritual world through which I can keep on talking to God and eternal lives that can record God’s words and put them to practice.  That’s how I met all of you, right?  This was a blessing.  Don’t live for the useless things of the world but live a beautiful life, a life of value for God.

  • A Dog’s Hell – Story of “Kuwon” the dog that received salvation

While I was visiting a wet market in China, I saw an unsightly and brutal scene. A group of dogs had been tied together like criminals. One after another, waiting to be slaughtered, the dogs stared helplessly as the butcher’s knife sliced through the throat of their companions in front of them.

I thought to myself, “This place is like a dog’s hell.”

The dogs were packed in large cages waiting to be slaughtered. They were petrified at the sight of the brutality. Their eyes were rolling about like that of a mental patient and their bodies were trembling with fear. In an attempt to escape, they endlessly drill into the corner of  the cage. As I looked at them, my heart fell into distress.

I told myself, ” I hope to save them, even if it is just one of them.”

There were seven dogs being locked in the cage.  I wanted to buy all seven of them but could not afford to buy all seven. So in the end, I could only save one of them.

There were dogs sobbing uncontrollably except one who crossed its legs and looked at me quietly. I looked at it intently and made up my mind to buy that dog. I spent a hundred and twenty yuan to purchase and went to save it. However, thinking that I wanted to slaughter it, the dog was petrified and fainted on the spot. While I was taking this dog out of the cage, the other dogs looked at me and followed me frantically to escape the clutches of death.

In the end, I brought back this dog and covered it with a blanket and gave it food. But it did not respond to my help but only kept trembling. After a month of constant care, the dog looked better and one day, it gave birth to two puppies in the nest! I then realized it was already pregnant when I bought it. Although I bought only one dog, it was actually saving three lives at a go, so I gave the name “Kuwon” which meant Salvation in Korean. After the whole incident, I brought it back to Korea, and now, it is in my hometown with its children, living bouncing vivaciously every day.

Through this incident, God made me realize:

In God’s eyes, human beings are also like that. How many people whether in the body, heart or spirit are walking on the domain of death, and suffering the pain of hell every day? Like this story, God gave the gospel of this time period through the person He trusts and when people believe and follow, they will receive salvation due to the righteousness and the condition of believing and following. I realized, If there could be one greatest thing in this world, it is to save a life.

  • Building Seokmak Church – Part 01

+jung myung seok +pastor jung myung seok +pastor joshua jung +providence religious movementI completed my first tour of duty in 1966 and the second in 1967. After which, I returned back to South Korea in the year 1969.  I earned and saved quite an amount of money from my army allowance and so I decided to buy a television and a tape recorder. I thought that it will be useful to have them because it was really expensive, so I bought them and brought them in Vietnam and brought them back to home.

One day, while I was walking, I heard a voice saying

“If you are not going to use it anyway, they’ll rust as time passes, so why not sell them and build a church in Seokmakri instead? Use it to save lives, like Noah building the Ark .”

Even though I heard the voice clearly, but I pretended that I didn’t hear anything. As I continued walking, Jesus inspired me again and he said

“Are you going to keep on pretending not to hear me?  There’s no one else around; I’m talking to you…”

I paused for a moment and reflected upon Jesus’s words. It’s true that I wasn’t doing anything with the television and it was just rusting away slowly. It was rusting away because it sometimes got rained on and I’d just put something on it to cover it, so of course, it was going to rust.  I tried polishing it with some anti-rust polish but it started to rust even more.  Jesus kept on suggesting that we sell it and build a church for lives because if I just left it there, it was just going to rust.  But back then, Television was so precious and our village didn’t have any electricity. I kept on praying that we would get electricity in our village; however, there was no news about it.  Nonetheless, I put the Television in the room that I shared with my brothers and when I was bored, I’d go in and look at it.  I was really chuffed (proud).  But I couldn’t use it, so it was pretty useless.

wedding_045I tried to find places where they had electricity and found out that, there was electricity in Jinsan. So I walked, eight kilometres while carrying the Television with me so that I would be able to watch it. I even watched Apollo 16 being launched at the school and groups of people soon started to gather and watch together with me. I felt so proud of owning a Television and even started thinking about how much money I could charge each person who is watching, like how bookstores earn money from renting out comic books to people. But Jesus was telling me to sell it away, so I pretended I never hear Him.

However, I knew that I couldn’t defy the words of the Lord, My Saviour, who saved my life.  So I came up with the idea of keeping the tape recorder and giving the television to Him first.  I knew that I had to give one of them to Him eventually because  Jesus isn’t just anyone,  he saved me when I was going to die in Vietnam so how could I just ignore Him? So I decided that I would give the television to Him.

I kept the tape recorder instead and I used it to record sermons and listen to them again and again so that I’d be able to understand them.  At the time Elder Un-Mong Na’s revival rallies were really well-known.  So I went and recorded what he was saying and listened to the recorded sermon multiple times.  Things of the world on Television did not really interest me much, so it wouldn’t really be much of a benefit to keeping the Television.  Instead, it felt like keeping the tape recorder was a better idea, so in the end, I decided to give up the television.

It seemed like God was urging me to give them up too.  I suddenly felt thankful that God had saved me when I was in Vietnam.  At first, I handed it over reluctantly… but then, I made up my mind. Since I wouldn’t have gotten much money if I had sold it to anyone else, I sold it to my older brother for one hundred dollars.  I had a pile of money.  In today’s terms, it would be around ten thousand dollars.  I wrapped the money up in the newspaper, it was a really large bundle, and then I took the money to the church.

  • The Story of Two Eggs

Recently, an incident that occurred when I was nine came to mind. Some guests were visiting my house but there was nothing at home that we could serve them with. So, my mother gave me some money to buy two eggs from the village marketplace down the mountain and instructed me to make a quick trip.

The journey to and fro the marketplace was about 6 km. Going to the marketplace, I could make it down quickly, but coming back was a different story. Since I had to run with an egg in each hand, it slowed down my progress. With my mother’s voice instructing me to quickly come home, I decided to put an egg each in my pocket, freeing my hands so I could sprint home quickly. I ran home all the way, slowing down only when I was nearing my house.

    Never did I expect..

As I stuck my hand into my pockets to retrieve the eggs, I came into contact with something wet. With a sinking heart, I realised that the eggs had broken due to the rigorous movement of my sprint. My face paled and my heart quickened.

What should I do? What have I done? Oh, why did I put the eggs in my pocket, knowing that they would break? Mother is still waiting to cook these eggs for our guest!

I considered running back to get two more eggs, but was stopped when I realised I had no money left. What should I do? The more I thought about it, the more absurd thoughts would come to mind. Briefly, I even contemplated running away from home. Although I was mere metres away from home, I continued to wander around outside aimlessly for a long time. Even when the moon hung high in the sky, I still didn’t return home.

Eventually, my mother came out to look for me and found me in a bush nearby. “What are you doing here? Why didn’t you go home after so long? I was so worried about you!”

    “I’m sorry mom, I broke the egg…” I cried as I spoke.

    “The eggs broke? How?”

“You told me to come back quickly so I placed the eggs in my pockets so I could run faster and return sooner. I only realized the eggs broke after that.”

“You didn’t dare to come home because of this?”

    “Yes… I’m sorry mom…”

“Don’t be silly. If the eggs broke, so be it. It isn’t that big of a deal. Besides, the guests have long left. It’s late, let’s go home.”

That day, my mother held my hands throughout the entire journey as we made our way back home. Holding her hands, all of my worries disappeared and warmth coursed through me.

As I reflected about the past

Thinking about it now, I realise that God will hold your hand throughout it all.

Even as I think back to this incident years later, I laugh at my naivety – that I didn’t dare to go home simply because of two broken eggs.

“Ah, just like how the things that caused us so many worries when we were young eventually turn out to be such a small matter after we have grown up, the Lord is telling me through this incident that the things that I am worrying about now will feel like nothing when I look back upon them in the future.”

“Just as how I felt so at ease and without worries when my mother held onto my hands then, I want the Lord Jesus to lead me forward holding my hands. In this way, I will have nothing to worry about.”

Year after year, I continued to live with this attitude till today and would like to pass on this mentality, encouraging teenagers who currently fear the difficulties ahead of them.

Your difficulties are ordinary things, just like the two eggs. There is nothing that the Lord can’t fix. So, let the Lord hold your hand, and overcome all your difficulties with ease.

  • The Teacher

How do you want to live your life? Do you simply go through the motions of life, existing from day to day? In my life, I can say that I’ve found meaning by spreading God’s Word because I’ve followed the teachings of the wisest teacher – the Lord.

    Who am I?

I’ve always doubted myself – I’m not smart; I don’t think quickly; and I can’t speak well in front of crowds. I prayed, telling God sincerely: “Lord! I am ignorant and stupid. Now matter how deeply I think, there is just no possibility of me becoming smart. People constantly call me stupid, saying that my brain is useless. I thought that what I’ve done so far is wise, but I’ve realised that it was foolish and so, I’m a stupid person without wisdom. Yes! I now realise and acknowledge that I am stupid.”

My ignorance pained me, and I cried in agony. Suddenly, in that moment, I heard a voice gently comforting me:

“I already knew you are neither intelligent nor wise, so please stop cursing yourself. No matter how stupid and useless a person may be, as long as he has the heart to learn from someone wise, he can also gain wisdom. But no matter how smart and wise a person maybe, if he learns from a foolish teacher, he will definitely become a fool. Therefore, foolishness and lack of wisdom is not the problem; the problem is whether you follow the intelligent teacher or not.”

This spurred me. With a renewed sense of motivation, I searched high and low for the wise teacher. Yet, I realised with disappointment, that in my village, no such person existed.

The Wise Teacher is non other than Jesus

That night, while praying, I realised that the wise teacher is someone I already knew: the Lord himself. I confessed that Jesus was the one and only wise teacher. Since then, whenever I prayed, through my thoughts, the Lord will appear and teach me the words of the Bible. He taught me about the laws of creation and reasons of the universe. Gradually, I came to see and understand God’s words in a clearer manner. Scriptures that were once confusing became understandable.

This continued for a few years. Then, I felt the Lord’s inspiration in my heart: Since I became the teacher who taught you, after learning from me, you too, go out and become the Teacher who teaches others about this word.

    Looking back at the past

Years have passed since the Lord told me this. Till today, remembering what the Lord told me, I’ve been sharing the word of this time period to all parts of the world. With God’s word of the time period and God’s mentality, the Lord made me a wise teacher by letting me learn from Him.

You too – who will you learn from? How do you want to live your life? This is the best time to think about making yourself. Then, find your wise teacher and make yourself into that great person by learning the Word of God. In this way, your spirit and body will become the greatest person on this earth.

  • Cleaning the Valley filled with Trash

Back in 2003, when I was in Hong Kong, there was a valley 1 km away from the place where I stayed. The valley had rotting trash and was giving off a stench, but no one dared to clean it. Instead, everyone just left it alone so I decided to clean it. One day, I went to the valley with two of my disciples to clean it up. I cleaned the 1 km long valley all the way to the end of it.

+jung myung seok +pastor jung myung seok +pastor joshua jung +providence religious movement
Pastor Jung cleaning the Tai Tam Valley in Hong Kong

After cleaning the valley, I was drenched in sweat but there was no clean water to wash myself. It was the day of my birthday, so churches throughout the world was waiting for me to cut the cake in celebration of my birthday. However, I continued cleaning until 2 pm. Thereafter, I reported to God that I had finally completed cleaning the valley that reeked of trash stench.

As soon as I finished praying, rain began to pour down. It was a gift of grace on my birthday. Torrents of rain poured down for about 10 minutes and as a result, the rainwater flowed along the valley that had already been swept clean and it became cleaner. At that time I was so thankful that I raised my voice and broke out into a song, ‘The Lord is My Shepherd’, as a token of my gratitude to God who had led me to the green pastures and to the places where Their Will exists, even in the midst of tribulations.

When I found out the things needed to be done even in the midst of tribulations and put them to action, I gained more than what I had lost.

It’s the same thing even now. When dark clouds develop, rain is likely to come. Thunder and lightning strike and raindrops begin to fall. Therefore people usually get anxious about being caught in the rain and their clothes getting wet, so they quickly go indoors. Or they feel bad, saying, “It has been a while since I was out like this but I am caught in the rain unfortunately.” Even when they go on a picnic, if it starts to rain they would get in the car and come back home right away. By the time they arrived home, the rain will have stopped after raining just a little bit. Then they would say, “Since we can’t go out again and the sky is covered with dark clouds, let’s go to sleep,” and they would just keep on sleeping. But in fact, the day would eventually turn out to be a really good day because the weather will become cool.

What I realized from this incident

Things often happen in this way when tribulations and hardships come. If you just get scared from the start, you will give up and run away and you will get used to being that way. Such people are always afraid of having any hardships that they may face in their future. Even if a small thunderstorm strikes and only a few raindrops fall in their lives, they feel nervous, have all kinds of worries and are afraid. Then, they give up and stop what they were trying to do.

Do not think or be afraid of your difficulties and worries, but leave them to the Lord. You should take action boldly just as you get rained on during the summer and get caught in a snowstorm or cold wind in the winter time. Then like me, you can become a strong hero of life and you will be able to complete the work that the Lord has entrusted to you in the end. Do you believe this? If you get too scared, you will become a patient with heart problems. Call on the Lord. Call on God. Do you understand?

  • Is giving a challenge or a joy?

There was one time, someone asked something from me. It was an item that I needed and therefore I was reluctant to give it to him. Upon hearing his request, I thought, “If I give it to you, I won’t have any to use. Why should I give the item to you when you didn’t help me with anything before?” I couldn’t find a reason to give the item to him. However, he was rude and persistent and kept demanding the item from me. I was irritated by his actions. At that moment, I recalled the teachings in the bible. God taught us that we should reward people only according to their deeds. While pondering on these words, I decided to keep the item for myself.

Not long later, I received several hardships due to this incident. I asked the Lord in prayer if I had done something wrong and He replied me through inspiration, he said: “Why didn’t you obey my word? Didn’t I tell you to give even your robe if someone asks you for your tunic?”

At that moment, I recall the words that the Lord spoke of in the bible:

    Matthew 5:40

And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.

The Lord continued, “Didn’t you promise me that you will live according to My Words in the bible? You have kept even harder commandments of loving your enemies during the Vietnam war but why couldn’t you do the same this time? You suffer losses because of something trivial, your actions saddens my heart. If you gave it when he asked for it, you would have become a person who kept my words. You should also give while thinking about my words correctly. Eventually, the act of giving will be beneficial for both of you.”

Because I only took action upon the words in the bible while understanding it only partially and judged with my own thoughts, I was rebuked by the Lord.

The Lord then asked me, “Wouldn’t you have given it if you thought they were people you love?” I replied “Yes. If one of my disciples asked me for that, I would have given it to them no matter who they were.” The Lord continued, “Didn’t I also say not to love just the people you love but people you don’t love?” Upon hearing his words, I lowered my head in embarrassment.

While reflecting on my actions, I saw my own contradictions and that I was only focusing on the words in the bible that said, “Reward people according to their deeds.” while asserting my own perspectives. Through this incident, I realized that I must read and understand all of the Lord’s words and do what is appropriate at each moment.

A person needs to be equipped with the Lord’s heart of generosity, the willingness to give whether

the item is big or small. People who love their brother, sisters and people around them as if they were the Lord, are people with good and righteous hearts. When I realized this and took action upon the word after correcting my perspective and gave the item to him, the Lord was happy and through this person, I received much help too.

Everyone, you should not reject someone who asks you for something but give grace to them without finding fault. Always look at God’s word in its entirety, pray and receive God’s wisdom before you act. I want you to help one another even to the extent of the people you have a conflict with. Wake each other’s faith and help each other thinking that you are doing it for God, Holy Spirit and the Holy Son. The Lord delights when you obey his words with a kind and sincere heart.
