About Wolmyeongdong

Wolmyeongdong — situated in Seokmakri village, South Korea, is God’s Natural Temple which Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok has been building together with his disciples since 1989 with great dedication, love, and effort.

In the past, Wolmyeongdong was called “The Valley of Bright Moonlight” , or ‘Dalbakgol’, because there, the moon shines brightly. However, when Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok prayed, the Lord spoke to him in a revelation saying, “Numerous people will gather here like Myeongdong in Seoul”. Pastor Jeong then changed the name of the valley to Wolmyeongdong, where the word ‘Wol’ means ‘moon’.

As you trek up the winding road towards Wolmyeongdong, a turquoise traditional Korean pavilion poised gracefully above a lake catches the eye. Along the path, a beautiful waterfall cascading into a clear swimming pool greets you. Near the waterfall, the crown piece of the Natural Temple comes into full view: the “Ambition Masterpiece” rock landscape. Towering majestically, massive natural rocks of mysterious shapes stands erected and positioned harmoniously. Daedun mountain, known as the golden river of the south-western region of Korea, peaks in the background, complementing the Ambition Masterpiece like an ornamental screen. Cloaked in immaculately trimmed pine trees and flowers in full bloom, the Ambition Masterpiece’s beauty, mystery and grandeur leaves every visitor in wonder.

Resting beside the Ambition Masterpiece is a lush green lawn. A statue of The Holy Son in open arms stands in front, embracing all to experience the peace and tranquility of a haven on earth. Sitting beside The Holy Son statue, is a boulder inscribed with the words ‘Natural Temple’.

Wolmyeongdong, God’s Natural Temple, is a testament of how Heaven and Earth exist in beautiful perfect harmony;  it is also where the precious meeting of a man’s love for God and God’s love for mankind takes place.

Pastor Jeong Myeong Seok invites everyone to Wolmyeongdong, saying, “Come to this place and praise the Holy Trinity who saved our lives.”

The Development of Wolmyeongdong

When Pastor Jeong commenced the extensive rock landscape construction, experts were called in to begin the project as he had no prior experience working with rocks. Not too long after the construction began, every rock landscaping expert left because the massive boulders which weighed more than 100 tons were deemed to be too dangerous to work with. Pastor Jeong had received a divine vision from God to position the rocks upright. The experts, however, said that it was an impossible task.

Holding onto the vision God gave him, Pastor Jeong suggested to the disciples, “Let’s build the rock landscape ourselves.” Initially, many doubted his suggestion as no one had experience in constructing a rock landscape. At this, Pastor Jeong responded, “Does anyone know how to construct a rock landscape from their mother’s womb?” Encouraged by his sheer determination to fulfil God’s will, the disciples started the construction work together with Pastor Jeong.

20 years in the making

Twenty years have passed since the completion of the rock landscape. Wolmyeongdong, once an isolated and barren rural village, has transformed into God’s beautiful Natural Temple where crowds of people come to marvel at its splendor, and offering prayers and glory to God. It has fulfilled the revelation that the Lord gave Pastor Jeong, “Numerous people will gather here like Myeongdong in Seoul.”

Today, Pastor Jeong and his disciples continue to beautify Wolmyeongdong, decorating God’s temple with natural image rocks and pine trees.

“After having met God, my life that was so worthless before has been transformed, and the land of my hometown that used to be so worthless has now been transformed into the priceless Natural Temple, Wolmyeongdong. In the same way, I wish that everyone will transform and succeed!”
